This instrument is inspired to a late 16th century bass, owned by Den Haag's Gementee Museum. The original model was attributed to Gaspard Thieffenbrucker, and there are serious doubts about its autenticity. However, the musician who ordered it to me really loved this model, and the heart has his reasons which the mind has not got.

The replica you can see here has the shape of the original, but is actually a Tenor gamba.
